Welcome to The Little Gate

Hi, I’m Gabrielle! I started this mail club because I know what it’s like to fall in love with growing your own food & florals.

I created The Little Gate from a love of the simple things: muddy hands, imperfect gardens, homegrown food and the feeling of knowing where something on your plate came from.

The Little Gate is a little piece of that dream, shared with you

How It All Began

My love for the garden started at a young age at my Grandparents acreage home. Pop grew all sorts of veggies & exotic fruits.

What began as a thrill to grow plants from seed became a passion I wanted to share.

I’ve always loved the imperfect side of gardening — the wonky carrots, flowers growing where they weren’t planted and the little discoveries that come with getting your hands in the soil.

The Little Gate was born from wanting to capture that feeling and send a little piece of it through the letterbox each month.

Get to Know Gabrielle

What’s your favorite thing to grow?

I love growing mangoes! They sprout very quickly :)

Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate while gardening?

Can't go wrong with a cup of tea!

Guilty pleasure snack while gardening?

A scotch finger to go with my tea :)

Favourite Season?

I am a sucker for spring! I love the sun and so does the garden!

What seed is on your wish list?

Luffas! I would love to create a range of uses for the luffa once harvested (dish cloths, sponges, soaps, face wipes - the list goes on)

Favourite fruit/veg to make with?

Tomatoes are so versatile! My go to is to make passata

What's the hardest thing to grow?

I have had my fair share of speed bumps. Avocadoes for me were a struggle to sprout, capsicum can sometimes be hard to get out of the seedling stage, lychees were too sensitive to water flucuations! I can go on

Why start this shop?

1. pay rent 2. I genuinely find so much joy in growing and using my own produce! I want to encourage more homegrown enthusiasts across Australia!

More Than Just a Letter

I don’t want The Little Gate to be something you open, read and forget about. I want it to give you a reason to step outside, put your hands in the dirt and grow something of your own.

To notice the first flower, pick something for dinner, save a seed and feel proud of something you helped bring to life.

Because I think there’s something really special about slowing down and remembering that we can still make, grow and provide for ourselves — imperfectly, but together.
